JOCELYN. Stylist

Initially drawn to hairstyling by the lure of a job that didn’t involve a desk and computer screen, Jocelyn quickly realized her love of not only the artistry of doing hair, but helping people feel their best. She joined Trim in 2011, and loves to help people love their hair.

With training from the Vancouver Hairdressing Academy, along with advanced education from Vidal Sassoon and Aveda, Jocelyn has a comprehensive skill set. She believes listening is the most important part of her job, and works to give her clients hair that will work for them.

She loves all haircutting, and specializes in short hair, bobs of all kinds and scissor fades. She loves to play with colour, and often works with soft, complementary tones to achieve blended but dimensional hair. She is particularly skilled at creating “natural” blondes and redheads.

Away from the salon, Jocelyn is usually riding her beloved bike, writing, procrastinating about writing or watching a documentary. A sun-worshipper and travel junkie, she also spends a lot of time at the beach, planning her next adventure, or both at the same time.

Wednesday 10 – 8
Thursday 10 – 8
Saturday 9 – 7

With the philosophy that haircuts should get better with time, he loves cutting classic shapes in mid-length to long hair that incorporate texture, movement, ease of styling and longevity. Michael is also very proficient at using colouring techniques to bring out subtleties in the shape of his haircuts.

With a passion for style, fashion and design – as well as cats and anything floral – Michael makes your time with him more than just a haircut.

Trim Hair Salon - Amy

AMY. Stylist

At the age of 8, Amy fell in love with movies. Tim Burton’s “Batman” featuring Catwoman was her first favorite movie. By the age of 19, Amy’s love of the suspension of disbelief and, in particular, horror films had inspired her to study make-up at Blanche Macdonald.

Following repeated requests to do hair on set, Amy decided to enroll in hair school. Since graduating from Aveda, and subsequently working at the Aveda Advanced Academy, she took on a stylist position at Ego and remained there for over three years.

Amy truly believes in building a genuine relationship with her guests. She loves being able to give her guests confidence by bringing out their true beauty from within.

Since 2012, Amy has been a keen yoga enthusiast which consistently reminds her to embrace her silly, intuitive, and quirky self. A believer in balance, freedom and love, Amy’s favorite things include astrology, gemstones, movies, cats, comics, chocolate, sports, travelling and seeking out the best beaches in the world.

In her free time you can find her on set somewhere, running the seawall, with friends or at a power-yoga class. Amy lives by her self-prescribed ‘happiness diet’ and her motto “Live, Love and Inspire.”

Amy’s hours:

Tuesday 12 – 8
Wednesday 12 – 8
Friday 10 – 6

Trim Hair Salon - Anna

ANNA. Stylist

Growing up in Alberta, Anna always loved playing with hair. She discovered the joy of experimenting with colour and changing her look at an early age, and by 16 she was working in a salon in her small town.

After graduating from hair school in 2003, Anna’s been fortunate enough to live and work around the world. She’s cut hair on mountaintops and beaches from Finland to New Zealand, and broadened her creative vision, growing into her own as a hair stylist. She loves the opportunity to meet all different kinds of people, and use her skills to enhance their look and personality.

She likes to call herself a “hair artist,” born to play with and style hair. And when it comes to her art, Anna loves to do it all!

When she’s not in the salon, she’ll probably be found hiking, mountain biking or wandering Main Street.

Anna’s hours:

Tuesday 10 – 8
Saturday 9 – 7

JILLIAN. Stylist

Beginning her career at Victoria’s Aveda Institute, Jillian has been beautifying hair on the West Coast and then in Alberta since 2006, and her passion as a stylist continues to grow.

As she fine-tuned her skills, she learned to zero in on the aspects of hair that really keep her inspired, and when she trained in dry cutting curls she never looked back. Curly hair has become her specialty and is where her creativity comes to life.

She also loves working with colour of all kinds, whether it’s soft, lived-in tones or a colour correction to create a dramatic change. Special occasion hair and men’s cuts are also a few favourites.

When she’s not doing hair, she loves to travel. Whether it’s a week in New York or a retreat in Bali, discovering new places recharges her batteries, while yoga, hiking, spin and exploring the city consume her time at home. She is very happy to be back on the West Coast where she can live the lifestyle she loves.
